How Often You Should Meet Your General Dentist

Many people avoid going to their dentist until they have a problem. Maybe they are busy. Maybe they are afraid of the dentist. Or maybe they are just afraid of the price tag. Whatever the reason, regular visits to the dentist are necessary for our oral health. Your dentist can help prevent dental issues from arising, and can catch little problems before they become big problems. Whether you enjoy going to the dentist or despise it, putting it off is never a good policy, because, needless to say, the bigger an issue becomes, the more time consuming and expensive the treatment becomes.

So how often should you visit the dentist?
It is recommended that patients visit their dentist every six months for a professional dental cleaning. Even if you brush and floss your teeth every day, plaque accumulates on your teeth over time and turns to tartar, and professional cleanings are the only way to remove this tartar from your teeth. A dental exam is also completed at this visit to check for and treat any problems that may have arisen since your last visit. X-rays may be taken to check for any hidden problems with your teeth or to assess the amount of damage if problems are found.

If it has been six months or more since you have seen the dentist, contact our general dentists in West Hollywood to schedule an appointment.
